  • (December 2011) Undergraduate student Hang Guo won an Arts and Sciences Scholarship for her work on species tree estimation using algebraic statistics. Hang is jointly mentored by Dr. Julia Chifman.

  • (May 2010) Undergraduates Tim NeCamp and Susan Fassnacht won Third Place in the Mathematics and Physical Sciences Division at the Denman Forum.

  • (August 2010) Lori Hoffman and Helen Fan have both successfully defended their theses. Lori will graduate this quarter with her Ph.D. in Statistics, while Helen will graduate with her M.S. in EEOB.

  • (January 2010)Lacey Knowles and I are working on an edited volume entitled "Estimating Species Trees" to be published by Wiley in early 2010. The contributors are the invited speakers from the Estimating Species Trees Workshop held at the University of Michigan in January 2009.

  • (January 2010) I have agreed to serve as an Associate Editor for the journal Evolution begining in January 2010.

  • (January 2010) Rasmus Hovmoller (post-doc) and Travis Treseder (M.A.S. student in Statistics) have joined the research group.
