My main research interests are in the area of statistical image analysis. In particular, I am interested in studying shapes of boundaries of objects (which form curves and surfaces) present in images. The amount of imaging data is increasingly abundant, and this requires the development of principled, efficient and automated novel methods to perform statistical analysis of such data sets. Statistical analysis of curves and surfaces employs the use of shape as an important characteristic for understanding objects in images and can be immensely useful in characterizing objects for the purpose of detection, tracking, classification and recognition. In addition to the methodological aspect of this research I am very interested in different applications including medical imaging, bioinformatics, biometrics and graphics.
