Course information

  1. Description:

Statistics 882 aims to introduce modern techniques for modeling and variable selection in multiple regression and discuss statistical issues that they entail. Modeling techniques such as ridge regression, LASSO, and LAR (least angle regression) will be studied in detail with emphasis on their motivation, computation and properties. In conjunction with these, various model selection criteria and cross validation will be discussed for the choice of a model or selection of variables. Their mathematical bases and comparison will be of main focus.
