Course Admission and Section Changes: All ADD and SECTION CHANGES handled by our department staff after BRUTUS closes. Students should go to 405C Cockins Hall and speak with Patty Shoults beginning Tuesday September 29th. The instructor and TAs do not sign paperwork associated with course registration. Graduating seniors: Ohio State has changed the date of the graduation ceremonies, making it unnecessary to give a separate final exam for graduating seniors. Grades: Your final grade in this course will depend on the following
All written work must have your name, your TA's name, and the time of your recitation. Additionally all work must be stapled (not paper clipped, folded, etc.) Absolutely no late work will be accepted. Students should allow sufficient time to complete written assignments. Computer failures, lost files and other technical difficulties are not valid excuses for submitting an assignment late. Lecture activies: The lecture activities include some from participating in weekly online mastery quizzing or in-class problem solving sessions and some from the lectures on the other days. Lab activities: During lab sections you will participate in activities to supplement the lecture material. These activities include group discussions, participatory reviews, experiments and computer exercises. Lab activities will be collected in lab. Homework: Homework assignments include problems from the text and the lab supplement or from EESEE. Assignments are posted in myStat135. There will be 8 assignments with each worth 10 points with the lowest score dropped. These assignments will be collected in lab. Exams: This course has two midterms and a final. They are given in the evening starting at 5:30 (to 6:18 for midterms and to 7:18 p.m. for the final). No makeups are allowed. Students with unavoidable conflicts should contact the course coordinator (pearl.1@osu.edu). All exams are closed book. For the midterm exams students may use one 8.5 inch x 11 inch page of notes,(front and back). For the final exam students may use two 8.5 inch x 11 inch pages of notes,(front and back). Requests for re-grading of exams must be made in writing. These requests should contain a complete description of the reason for grade adjustment as well as the student's name, TA name, and lab time. Students will not lose points in total based on such requests (but may lose points on one problem and gain points in another, resulting in no net gain). Missed work: Students who are unable to attend an exam for a legitimate unavoidable reason may take a make-up exam only if student provides suitable documentation of the absence and takes the make-up in a timely manner. Students who miss a lab activity for a legitimate reason must use their dropped score for the first absence. Subsequent legitimate absences should be discussed with the instructor. Plese save doctor's notes and other verifications to allow for a fair hearing of your individual situation. Study Rooms and Help Hours: Our TAs also hold office hours in 132 Cockins Hall starting Wednesday of the second week of classes. Specific hours are available under the Help Room link. Academic Misconduct: Any incident of academic misconduct will be prosecuted as set out in University Rule 3335-31-02. Exams and quizzes are to be completed individually.
