"And, when you want something, the whole universe conspires in helping you achieve it."

- The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho

I, Soma Roy, am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Statistics, at The Ohio State University, located in Columbus, Ohio, United States.

I am from India. I was born and raised in the "Steel City" of Jamshedpur, which is a “small city” in the eastern state of Jharkhand. I attended Sacred Heart School , Jamshedpur and then got my Bachelor's degree in Statistics from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, New Delhi, India. I got my first Master’s degree from University of Delhi, New Delhi, India. My second Master’s degree is from OSU.

I was co-president of the student body of the Statistics department, with fellow graduate student Joe Kupresanin in the academic year 2006-2007. Joe and I, edited a weekly unofficial Statistics newsletter. It is very aptly called "Central Moments of Our Lives." Find the existing issues on this page.

I am the Graduate Teaching Fellow (GTF) for the Statistics Department this year. Materials, links, and other things related to my work as a GTF can be found here.
