ABSTRACT

The Program in Spatial Statistics and Environmental Statistics (SSES) in the Department of Statistics is celebrating its 10th anniversary during January 2009. On Thursday January 22nd at 3.30pm in Cockins 212, the scheduled Department of Statistics Colloquium will be in the form of a short seminar by the SSES Director (Noel Cressie) and Associate Director (Kate Calder), followed by poster presentations describing both current and previous SSES research projects. These include statistical applications to ozone mapping, surface-wind extremes, pathways of human exposure to toxic heavy metals, air pollution generated by biomass burning, West Nile Virus in avian populations, vertical profiles of atmospheric constituents, spatial mapping of doctor-prescription data over small areas, and borehole temperature-depth profiles. All interested are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be provided.
