Step-stress Tests and Some Inferential Results

N. Balakrishnan
McMaster University

3:30PM - Thursday, October 20, 2005
Room 170, Eighteenth Avenue Bldg. (EA 170)

ABSTRACT

In this talk, I will first present a brief description of a step-stress test and explain some of the results available in the literature. Next, I will consider a simple step-stress model with exponential lifetimes and describe how exact inferential procedures can be developed based on the maximum likelihood estimates of the parameters. I will present these results for different forms of censored data, and make a comparison with results obtained from bootstrap and large-sample methods. Finally, I will give some examples to illustrate all the methods of inference.

Meet the speaker in Room 212 Cockins Hall at 4:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
