Jan. 29: The Statistics seminar for today was cancelled - hopefully Dr. Gelman will be back in the spring.

Jan. 27: Office hours for January 29 will be shortened to 10:00 - 10:30 am. If you would like to see me, please make an appointment.

Jan. 26: "Field Trip" February 19 Mark your calendars - I would like you all to go to the Statistics seminar given by Matthias Schonlau at 3:30 pm in EA170 on February 19. You can read more about it here.

Jan. 24: Homework 3: for problem 12 in Chapter 2, assume alpha=0.05.

Jan. 20: Errors corrected in notes: I missed a "square" in the denominator of the bias and variance equations in the notes for ratio estimation. The errors are now corrected, and the corrected equations are put in boxes so that you can easily identify which ones they are. I apologize for this inconvenience.

Jan. 16: Modification of class announcement: You should let me know about who you'd like to be in a group with by 6:30pm on Tuesday Jan 20 (after class). Alternatively, you can send me email to let me know that you would rather have a group assigned to you by 4:00pm on Tuesday Jan 20 (before class). Groups (which should have approximately 3 members) will be finalized on Wednesday to give you plenty of time to come up with a good research question.

Jan. 8: The grader for this course is Zhen Wang. She will hold an office hour from 2-3pm on Mondays in CH 305A.

Jan. 7: There was an article about the computing program R in the New York Times today.

Jan. 5: Note the change in time and location for this course - we are now in DL 713 on Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30 - 6:18. Come to class to hear more about this change.

Jan. 5: Welcome to Survey Sampling Methods. I will be using this site to post notes, homeworks, and announcements, so check back often! I'll be using the Carmen system to maintain the gradebook for this course, as well as occasionally post restricted items. I'll let you know about these as we need them.
