6/9 The final grades are posted. If you would like too look over your final exam or pick up your last homework assignment, please send me an email to schedule an appointment. I will not post solutions to the final exam since there are students who have not taken it yet. Enjoy your break!

6/7 Please ignore the solutions for 9.20, 9.21, and 9.23 in Homework 6. They were done using the original data set and the ML estimates were not adjusted according to whether R or S was used as discussed on pg. 493. In light of this error, there will NOT be questions of the final asking you to make comparisons between principal components and ML estimates of the factor loadings or to obtain ML estimates of factor loadings from the sample covariance matrix. Please let me know if you have any questions, and I apologize for any inconvenience this error has caused.

6/7 Another Final Exam Review Exercises TYPO: In the solution to exercise 1c, the first element of mu_0 should be 51 instead of 55. The final answer is correct.

6/1 FINAL EXAM INFORMATION
The final exam will be on Wednesday, June 8th from 1:30pm-3:18pm in KN0190.
-- The exam will primarily cover the material introduced after the midterm as discussed in class today.
-- You may bring two sheets of paper (double-sided) with notes to the exam as well as the two sheets that you prepared for the midterm, but you will NOT be allowed to use your textbook.
-- Please bring a CALCULATOR to the exam.

5/29 HOMEWORK 6 CORRECTION
For exercises 9.20, 9.21 and 9.23, use the first 6 variables (X1 - X6), instead of the four variables listed. The parameters of an M=2 factor model cannot be estimated when P=4.

4/18 Homework 3 is now available and is due on Friday, April 29th. The solutions to Homework 3 will be posted immediately after class on the 29th, so no late homeworks will be accepted.

4/15 For 656 from the Statistics Dept., GGobi is now available on the department servers melomel and braggott. You can login to these machine remotely using remote desktop software (see http://www.stat.ohio-state.edu/current/support/windows/rdp.html).

4/13 Solutions to Homework 1 are now available on the Homework webpage.

4/12 Revised versions of slides 5 and 6 from Monday's lecture (4/11/05) are at the beginning of tomorrow's lecture (4/13/05).

4/12 Two of the rows in the company.dat dataset were mislabeled. A corrected version is now posted on the Homework page. This error should not have affected your answers in Homework 1, but it might make a difference in Homework 2. Thus, please download the corrected version (company.dat) before doing the first question of Homework 2.
