Professor Noel Cressie (with co-author, Chris Wikle) has won the PROSE Award for Excellence in the Mathematics Category from the Association of American Publishers for their 2011 Wiley book, “Statistics for Spatio-Temporal Data."

Congratulations to Dr. Peter Craigmile who has been selected for the 2011 El-Shaarawi Young Researcher's Award given by the International Environmetrics Society. This award is in recognition of having made outstanding contributions to the field of environmetrics.

The Nationwide Center for Advanced Customer Insights (NCACI) has been selected as the recipient of this year's prestigious 2011 SPAIG (Statistical Partnerships among Academe, Industry, and Government) award from the American Statistical Association!


Dr. Noel Cressie has been appointed by the Director of the U. S. Census Bureau, Dr. Robert Groves, to serve on the Census Bureau Scientific Advisory Committee for the period 2011-2014.

Dr. Elizabeth Stasny, Professor and Vice Chair for Graduate Studies, was appointed by US Attorney General Eric Holder to serve on the newly created Office of Justice Programs Science Advisory Board.


The National Research Council has recently rated the OSU Department of Statistics #10 amongst all public institutions with a graduate program in Statistics and #18 among all statistics graduate programs.  (more info)


Michael Browne, professor of psychology and statistics, was presented with the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his career contribution to psychometrics at the 2010 Annual Meeting of the Psychometric Society.
