Department OverviewThe OSU Statistics Department has twenty-four full-time faculty members. Research interests encompass virtually all major areas of statistics. Graduates have been employed by a wide range of companies and academic institutions. The Department has various computer facilities, and also maintains a full time consulting service. The Department offers four graduate degrees: M.A.S., M.S, Ph.D., and Ph.D. in Biostatistics. We host visiting faculty from around the world. Visitors have come from as far afield as Australia, Denmark, England, India, Japan, Korea and Russia. The visitors, who typically stay between two and nine months, add to the research environment and expertise of the department. The Department runs a weekly statistics colloquium and a bi-weekly biostatistics colloquium series. The Department has also been involved in interdisciplinery seminar series on heart rate variability data (with several departments including Psychology, Physiology and Internal Medicine) and on DNA sequencing (with the Departments of Molecular Genetics and Mathematics).The SSES Program in the Department is currently co-organizing an interdisciplinary seminar on remote-sensing data. |
