Departmental Emphasis

Statistics is an expansive discipline that encompasses areas ranging from the development of methodology for data acquisition and analysis to the science of decision making under uncertainty. The emphasis in the Department of Statistics at The Ohio State University is to maintain innovative excellence in research that is targeted to the development of statistical methodology motivated by providing solutions to real-world problems.

Faculty members in the Department are heavily involved in a wide range of interdisciplinary projects (with a broad base of science collaborators from the physical, social, biological, and medical sciences and engineering) that lead to methodological and computational research with a major emphasis on statistical modeling.
