Using the SSH Client on a Floppy (Putty)

This client is set up to connect to mordor.stat.ohio-state.edu. Connecting to other hosts is possible, but not covered here.

Installing

1. Download the self extracting archive to a floppy. You can download it here. Use "Save as" to save on a floppy.

2. Click on start --> Run --> type in a:\ssh.exe --> Click on OK or press enter to run the self extracting exectuable file.

3. Once WinZip Self-Extractor has launched click on unzip to extract all necessary files to your floppy to run Putty

Using Putty

1. Click on Start --> Run --> type in a:\ssh.bat then click on OK or press Enter to start the program which will connect you to mordor.stat.

2. If this is your first time connecting to this machine a Putty Security Alert will appear asking you if you trust this Host. If you do click on yes to continue, otherwise click on No to disconnect.

3. Type in your username and press enter.

4. Type in your password and press enter.
