Disabling SCIMSCIM is the linux program which enables input in different languages. Unfortunately, in a flash of idiocy, SCIM uses control-space to bring up its interface. This choice makes it difficult for emacs users who are used to control-space for setting the mark. SCIM can be disabled in GNOME by going to the System tab on the title bar, then Preferences, then More Preferences, then Input Method. Select "Never Use Input Methods" and then log out. If you don't have the new menu bar, we can reset yours or you can run: im-chooser from the commmand line. |
